A call for help! Myself and colleague Caroline run a project called Article 12 Arts which encourages the freedom of expression through the arts for young refugees and teenagers in care. We work under the rights of article 12 UNCRC. Before lockdown we spent time running art, theatre and drumming workshops with young refugees and asylum seekers in the UK. The young groups we work with are particularly vulnerable so lockdown has been especially challenging for them as they're already very isolated. We've therefore been sending out light to carry, easy to deliver art tool kits with paints (generously donated by Bristol Paints) and paintbrushes to these young people during this time. They've been sending us photos of their work which we've been uploading to our new instagram account @article12arts . Please follow, like and comment to support and encourage these amazing young artists! Each package sent out is individually decorated and inside we put a unique signed artwork as a gift with a small note of encouragement. We’d love this to be extended to other artists or anyone else up for getting involved! If anyone would be kind enough to donate a postcard sized painting or sketch with an encouraging note on the back that we could send out, it would mean a lot to them and to us!
